APOCALYPTIC FLAMING WILDERNESS / Poem by Merlyn Joseph

APOCALYPTIC FLAMING WILDERNESS

Rising firewall raging with anger
Flickering with grudge, painting tones so bold of rage
Dancing like never before, the burning uncontrolled
Spreading tentacles of furnace, engulfing the serene forest
Gorging on innocent souls, everyone’s abode vanquished
Fondling everything on the way
Ain’t it enough? Bush wild fire
Purging the ecosystem?
Are you maintaining a checklist?
Or is it cravings for a gluttonous meal?
Or is this your lust for nature?
Leaving footprints of sorrow and pain in sands of time
Paralysing the island nation to stillness.
