RAIN / Poem by Jagdish Prakash

Poem by Jagdish Prakash

Rain drops fall in spasms
Like coitus interruptus
Between strangers
In a wayside motel
On a night
Frozen in time
In a far away village
In Alaska.

Distance melts
Spread over silence
In opaque nothingness
Only heartbeats speak
Over the rain in slow motion.

Let this rhythm of rain
Be the witness this night,
Of the snows melting slowly
Over the warmth of togetherness
Between two strangers
In this far away motel
In Alaska !
