Poems by Leonard Dabydeen
Be Strong!
Be strong!
have faith yourself
just believe what you do
will come to fruition of your dreams
OK?
Wear mask
COVID-19
is testing survival
your social distance matters, too,
no fear.
Follow
regulations
it’s a deadly virus
that may test your freedom and trust
always!
Always
be on look out
for situations that
may jeopardize sudden actions
you take.
It’s good
to be on guard
no matter consequence
Life’s certain when you’re not in doubt
helpless.
Be strong
COVID-19
it’s a deadly virus
may jeopardize sudden actions
helpless.

PEACE and BAPU ji
Suno suno aye duniya waalon, Bapu ki ye amar kahaani
Listen, people of the world, to Bapu’s immortal story…
[Mahatma Gandhi : born Oct 2, 1869; assassinated Jan 30, 1948]
Poking
at each other
eye to eye, blinding the whole world
makes mediation so complex
for peace.
Conflicts
cannot resolve
territorial rights
based on our religious believes
God’s ONE.
Where hate
inflames the mind
and racism colours our
skin to scoff and scorn our canvas
seek Truth.
Gandhi’s
lesson is to
follow his legacy
stand deeply for SATYAGRAHA
in Life.
Only
when Truth becomes
non-inflammatory
nations will relish its sweetness
for peace.
Poking
is no resolve
and racism colours our
stand deeply for SATYAGRAHA
for peace!

PLEASURE INFINITE
The pleasure is endless
like swirling
aromatic incense
burning in the secret chambers
of my pulsating heart
I hear your lilting voice
echoing
beautiful bhajan
as you crest
in your pristine puja room
deities garlanded with marigold
your voice
oozing rapturous feeling
with elusive ecstasy
in my mind
chanting in divine solace
of Lord Shiva
of Lord Krishna
of Mother Laxmi
of Mother Durga
Hanuman Chalisa
soul empowerment
encrypting pleasure infinite.
