Poem by Lily Swarn
The spring in your heart
Try as you might
The treacherous summer
Will creep in through the windows
And halt your flights of fancy
The hot Lou will scald your temples
And the parched lips will pine for
That single drop of mercy
That resides in water
Will any season ever please you
My beloved one ?
Spring disagrees with you
For the Koel in the mango tree
Calls out plaintively for me
The blush on the salvia
quickens your senses
And the violet cineraria is regal
The languid petals of nasturtium
Inflame your yearning heart
It’s still winter where I live these days
But the fires rage on !
