MAN AND A DIFFERENT MOON / Poem by Roula Pollard

MAN AND A DIFFERENT MOON

Some days grow wild
emerge unrecognizable
and you dressed
in the body
of a Kouros
lips, face
feelings
like antiquity

I have counted years
to sense your face
to understand
your language
to recite
the meaning
of your lips

Have I lost you
beyond the light?
Do I discover you
now, dressed
in a new body
and mind
like newly born
by hope and peace?
Tell me what
are you?

Or do I feel you
like the sea
the five seasons
this starlit night
under the color
of a smiling moon
