Poem by Elizabeth Ongpauco
I WEAR PERFUME ..
I am a woman who never wore a corset
I am a woman who doesn’t manicure my nails
I am a woman who loses my heart to boots and high heels
I am a woman who treasures books, write poems and articles
I am a woman who enjoys listening to music except rock and rap
I am a woman who adores flowers and displays them in my house
I am proud to be a woman and brave to fight for equality and deliverance
I fight, voice out on the basis of hard work and excellence
But, I’m a woman against women who are into indecent exposure
Why stoop low ?
What for ?
Incorrigible , Who knows
I am a woman who is not afraid to cry
One who has emotions , I get angry and get hurt
Oops I’ve got Peter Parker’s spider sense
I can easily read signals loud and clear O, yes!
I’m a woman and I think to myself, “O God , How obvious can I be by not coming across , desesperada ? ”
No matter how much I want to shout
“I also like you , ahhhh , O my speak up”
Never change your mind
I wear perfume
I’m a woman
