Poem by Ibrahim Honjo

Last night I gave you a hundred new stars
that I created
from the dust collected between stones
and polished them into new dreams

you came as usual
wrapped in the Morning Star
the most beautiful among the stars
scattered across the universe

I absorbed your every movement
your shadow
your hidden glances
you secretly sent to me
giving more vivid meaning to my new dreams

so I lived happily
for millions of light years
in a magical trap
windswept under your mantle
in the glow of the stars – my blood sisters

somewhere on planet Earth
an old dream
boiled my love like a volcano
and suddenly it flooded the cosmos

and the glow of the stars…
faded away

Ibrahim Honjo, from the book “How to touch eternity down the Mahalla”
