Poem by Akimana Divine
I have watched you slip
Off my heart like a bad
Fat that has been poured
On apple cider.
I have crossed oceans to feed
My desperate soul and yet my
Hungry mind keeps warning
My bleeding heart.
You have promised to shift mountains
In the name of love and yet I see them
Growing from the fertile of your lies.
I am afraid to call it love because true
Love never fades but well, these feelings
Are washed away like water paint in rain.
Don’t get me wrong, I feel your selfish
Desires to keep your rotting heart pumping
But hey, a girl has got to go.
