SLEEPING BEAUTY / Poem by Membis Okorie Chukwukamma

SLEEPING BEAUTY

She lies in beauty like a thousand roses on their buds
Spreading intoxicating fragrance across the universe
While the moon meets to adore her magical attraction
That has changed the way all planets orbit the solar

She lies in beauty far more seductive than palm wine
With her lips like that of ripe strawberries in the fridge
And her eyes a decoration of two magnificent stars
Oh! My Mistress is like a goddess in a human shell

Sleeping Beauty sleeping in beauty like midnight kisses
Right now, I bet she must be dreaming of pink paradise
Watching as Angels sing her name in sweet melodies
Oh! My Love, I am spending the night staring at you

Sleeping yet sparkling against the translucent bulb
As her smiles keeps forming bubbles inside my heart
Filling me with satisfaction nothing can ever compare
Oh! My Mistress is really a goddess in a human shell

Her eyebrows shaped like captivating June rainbow
Her heart beating peacefully like the rhythm of love
Her skin smooth, spotless, retrospective and chilly
Oh! My Love, I am spending the night staring at you

I am not a painter but tonight I will let her sink in me
That I can perfectly paint her portrait with closed eyes
And hang it on the same rope my breath is hanging
For my Mistress is more than a goddess in human shell
