I WONDER OFTEN TIMES / Poem by Dr. Jernail Singh ANAND

Poem by Dr. Jernail Singh ANAND

I wonder often times.
Is it all?
Can someone just slip into oblivion?
And not return even as a dream.

You were not an object
Lying on a shelf
And finally forgotten.

It was a different matter.
You had a presence
A glow
And see, there is night now.

I am haunted by shapes
Of a million dreams
We saw together
In the elevated caverns of joy.

Even those who die
Leave behind a scope
For for a safe return in
An untold, unannounced sigh.

Is it possible to turn an object
And leave a shelf,
Breaking off everything
And turning a dead memory?
