The Bullet of my Share: An Anti War Poem (Dedicated to Lucky Stephen Onyah, A Peace) – Poem by Dr. Jawaz Jaffri / Translated by Sara Ali Khan

An Anti War Poem
Dedicated to Lucky Stephen Onyah, A Peace

The Bullet of my Share

Ilie awake in my bed
In hope of eternal sleep
Sleep has shut its doors on me
Some unknown gun’s shadow
Crawls on my chest
But those who deal in death
Postpone my eternal slumber on another night!
ق
see the last of the exiled birds
In the east of Satsar lake
And that beautiful woman
Who has come from the last corners of the world
To say farewell to injured birds
In my heart
There rises the desire to sleep with that golden body
I get baptized in the essences
Flowing from that golden body!
Wherever I go
I feel myself at the mercy
Of a missile in my share
I see in the streets
Colour-splattering spring of faces
While standing on the crossroads in thoe city
Where’s that face
I’m in search of for eons?
The bullet of my share
Is in my pursuit.
