My Naughty Eyes
The day I flirted with Time,
my eyes turned wilful and naughty;
started playing hide and seek,
when they ought to stand by me.
The naughty eyes!
Who and what made them so unruly,
unsparing, I’m yet to figure out.
They flit like swimming birds,
always ahead of me, waylaying me
at each of my turns and twists
unmasking each of my glances
at odd and unexpected moments,
when I needed them most for concealing
the surges of feelings about to overcome me.
The naughty eyes; laughing all the time,
revelling only in disrobing me,
watching me lying naked, sweating with
beauty in its fullness and futility.
Whom I’m to blame now;
to me, my eyes or to Time!
For You …
You’re the one, I etched on my heart
with the needle of my love and
styled it “ LIFE PERENNIAL” for you
to sit, shine and smile with me
for lives to come sans superannuation.
You’re the one, I chained with my love-links,
caged you in the secret most chamber
of my bosom for you
to sit, shine and smile with me
for aeons on end.
You’re the one for whom I built a nest,
in the garden of my love, persuading cuckoos
to sing for you and soft breeze to fan you,
to sit, smile and shine with me ever and ever,
for ever.
