A TREE IS ALWAYS IN MY MEMORY / Poem by Roula Pollard

Poem by Roula Pollard

A TREE IS ALWAYS IN MY MEMORY

I am in the memory, perhaps in the NDA
of a tree, as you are in my memory.
I am not yours, you are not mine
we are oneness in love.
I have no possessions
a tree I am
valuable as our shared planet
oneness on this earth. Sea
breezes, loneliness of the wind
the soil of our soul unite us.

We share the same sadness
the same joy and friendship
in the body of the Universe.
When a tree says
“ I gave up sadness”
is there any truth in it?
I turn it into a song, its roots
melody of the earth
its words diaphanous
rise up from the soil
blossom on the horizon
like dawn.
