MY RUNAWAY RAIN / Poem by Asoke Kumar Mitra

Poem by Asoke Kumar Mitra

MY RUNAWAY RAIN

It’s raining here, empty streets
Drenched lonesome cobblestone
Distant neon lights
Your laughter in this secret dusk
Was yesterday’s dream

In dreams, you whispered so often
Runaway from home
Yesterday will be today
Reminds me how distant we are
I surrender in this rainy dusk

A storm swirling in me
Summer’s gone
The rebel wind chocked my voice
My runaway rain
Asked freedom from love

Fugitive rain you came upon me
My runaway rain
Are you a stranger or a friend
Rain kissed the flower blooming in fragrance
Chasing a song whispered as a stranger

Today will be tomorrow
Come back, my runaway rain
My yesterday’s dream…
