MY MOTHER’S GLORY / Poem by Manthena Damodara Chary

Poem by Manthena Damodara Chary

MY MOTHER’S GLORY

An angel descended on the earth
She held me in her womb till birth
As a foetus I often kicked at walls
She smilingly bore Bahubali’s calls
She gained me through great pain
She moulded me well in the main
The wide world to me was known
Her eyes of wisdom had it shown

She read aloud stories from.epics
To provide training in basic ethics
She perfected rare craft of poetry
I was young to capture her artistry
She owned wealth from her father
To share it with me in fine weather
Unseen wealth is unstable ln breed
It can’t adorn those people.in greed

She reared my yearning for learning
My learning never led to my earning
Things I learnt from.her mattered all
They made into truths promises tall
I often pay her my.honest homage
I continue her legacy with courage
I represent my mother in miniature
As the Almighty’s noblest creature

( My tribute to my divine mother, Mrs.Manthena Ranganayakamma, a renowned Telugu Poetess of yester years on the occasion of MOTHER’S DAY.She lived all her eighty years of life at Elukurthy Havel, Warangal Rural District of Telangana , INDIA..)

  1. Very well told the mother’s troubles when bearing a child at the same time she feels proud of her child to bring him on earth and inculcate virtues in him to project the child as the super saviour of the world.
