Poem by Jagdish Prakash
A BAGFUL OF RAIN
Vagabond clouds,
Spread like doodles
On scrapbook of a dark sky,
Nudged by naughty wind
They burst in showers
Beating the window panes
Of my small room
Nit picking my cantankerous thoughts
On multiple issues
Leading to COVID’s onslaught.
Orgy of rain continues
Yet my inner space,
Parched and breathless,
Returns again in concentric circles
To those who suffer and those
Who struggle to serve them.
Gazing at the wandering clouds
I mumble a prayer to
The gathering clouds
To grant me a bagful of rain
To wet the parched throats
Of those who suffer
And those who
Ease their suffering.
