Beware
The Ides of March

The Ides of March have come
Like they do every year

Cows go tinkling their big rusted bells
Through daisies strewn like stars in the sky
In meadows smelling of cosmos and grass

The Ides of March have come like they do every year

Blushing maidens counting the leaves of clover
Sitting beneath blossoms of plums and pears
While ominous sirens ravage and plunder

The ides of March have come like they do every year

No soothsayers warn of the ire of gods
When evil creeps through streets and homes
When babies are maimed or how mothers will whimper

The Ides of March have come like they do every year

The rainbow strides across the horizon
Signalling hope in times of terror
Will the wars ever end and will grandma sleep ?

The ides of March have come like they do every year !!

Ides Of March

Bluebells on hillsides
Hiding under bushels of remorse

Greeting the March hare with tremulous glances

Beacon lights dribbling like hockey coaches

Sunbeams ricocheting away from light

Cavernous hollows in banyan tree trunks

Baby owls peeping out from rocks

Nature dancing the mamba samba
Wearing gowns of gossamer sheen.

  1. May the soothsayer’s prophecy about Julius Caeser on Ides of March be belied and let the heartfelt earnest wishes of the Poetess Lily Swarn ,harbinger of peace , prevail and let Humanity prosper this Ides of March and always.
