Beyond a Blue Ribbon
I don’t
enter myself
in a garden show
and receive
a blue ribbon:
I’m a wildflower–
untamed in
fantastic patterns:
Boundless as
the blue sky
free as the
roaring ocean!
enchanting aromas,
I bloom and bloom–
Spontaneous on
Pebbled pastures,
beautiful in woodlands,
resilient under
the sun and the moon!
and unconstructed
I remain–
You’ll blink
I don’t need
the mercy of seasons:
summer can’t burn,
winter can’t crush,
spring can’t pamper!
Like a tough
underprivileged child
I thrive in poor soil:
The silks and
velvets of spring,
I don’t wear!!
