Poem by Vilma Varon
THE MÈMOIRS OF YOU
I do believe that God alone
Created you for me to love .
He picked you out from all the rest
Because He knew I’d love you best .
I once a heart so tender and true ,
But now it’s gone from me to you .
So care for it as I have done
For you have two and I have none.
One starry night , Darling can you still remember ,
When I pledged my love whispering a prayer ,
That may the Lord in heaven
Grant us love without end .
But with regretful heart dear , I’m sorry .
I stained the ties of love so true ,
The pledged I made a couple a couple of years ago .
Darling , if time comes
When I’ll be in heaven and you’re not there
I’ll wait for you at the golden stairs
So that the angel will know and see
How much you really mean to me .
And when my happy days there will be for long ,
When my hopes will be in vain for you to come along
I’ll give the angels back their wings ,
Their golden harps and silver strings .
Down on my knees to St.Peter dear ,
And reveal this wish without fear , if he grant me ,
And to prove I’m sincere and true
I’ll go down to earth
And forever be with you .
