The light is sweeter before dawn.

The light is sweeter before its arrival.

We love the sweetness of your light, our host country of Ghana.

.PENTASI B World Friendship Poetry is our Family, with whom we all share this AFRICA Poetry Festival in GHANA in 2016, you share this Poetry Festival with the whole world. Continent of AFRICA, our host country of GHANA, we share with you the achievements of your Writers and Artists, their present and future vision, the vision of your people.

This morning I woke up before dawn broke out.

Very early this morning, when the sky above Athens was not yet touched by the daylight,

it was still the end of the night, the beginning of dawn.

As I lifted my head up to see the sky above me,

I saw the sky illumined by trillions of stars,

adorned by untouched galaxies, suns, and supernovas unseen by human eyes

I saw a brilliantly unseen blue sky,

I saw Hope. I saw the message of hope on the star lit sky.

I saw a message of Freedom, Progress, Advancement —

I saw the continent of Hope, the continent of Love, the continent of Africa.

Africa became free from the burden of its past.

I saw each grain of sand in this vision of light

I saw each drop of drinking water to be clear, distilled water

I saw each barren field to be a ripe field, full of harvest, ready to be harvested

I saw all crop-growing fields and plains of Africa and Ghana

to be rich fields, full of the richest harvest.

I saw each dry lake to be a lake full of clean water.

I saw each polluted river to be a river full of clear, transparent water.

I saw each child of Africa, each child in Ghana, to be a smiling child,

I saw each child to have abundant food,

I saw each child to grow healthily in one’s own home, wearing beautiful, clean clothes.

I saw each mother feeding her children with nutritional food, without any lack of food.

I saw each mother of Africa Happy in her house, cooking dinner for her children,

binding her family together with compassion. I saw each mother and father transporting their children to and from school,

into the safety of their love.

I saw each medical center to have abundance of medicines.

I saw my Vision as becoming a Reality right here in front of me.

Yes, I see my vision to become reality.

I see this rich country of Ghana, this rich continent of Africa,

to be rich in Reality,

purely by the blessings and wealth of its own land.

I see the continent of AFRICA in my Vision of Reality, the whole continent smiling and Happy.

I have never before seen Children’s smiles sweeter,

than the smiles of the African children.

For the first time ever I saw such clever children,

thirsty for the sweet water of Education,

for the honey of Knowledge.

I have never before, as mother and as teacher,

seen nursery children, students, young mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers,

great-grandmothers, great-grandfathers, uncles, and aunts,

drinking from the well of Knowledge so eagerly.

drinking Education with such love.

I see this extraordinary continent, each nation, shining.

My hope, our hope, grows larger, spreads all over the cities, the towns, the villages, the townships.

The PENTASI B World Friendship Poetry’s Hope for the land of Africa grows

always stronger, for we have a Vision:

Our PENTASI B Vision is the Vision for the Unity, Peace and Friendship of all Races and Nations.

Africa, continent of great History, of great Traditions,

continent of Craftsmanship, Literature, Myths, Achievements, land of high forests and lakes, when I hear the narration of your heart,

it is full of Love and Hope for your Land.

I have never before seen such enthusiasm and meaning in the eyes of people,

as I have seen in the eyes of your people.

I have never before seen such effort and expectation,

I have never seen such eagerness for progress,

I have never see such love for Education,

I have never seen so many earnest students’ faces hoping and expecting to shine.

Never before, have I seen so many expectations ripe to be fulfilled.

Now I see the best crops, Students, Scientists, Educators, Teachers, Doctors, Nurses, Sales Assistants, Parents, growing up with expectation all over Africa.

My own links with Africa are strong and longer than you can imagine.

They started many centuries BC., when my Greek forefathers traded with Africa

and cross-fertilized the Arts and craftsmanship.

We have never before seen heroes

such as Nelson Mandela, the great son of Africa,

waiting patiently to practice Freedom and Democracy

in a way the world had never seen before.

As cultures meet and mix, the present time becomes richer.

Whenever Poetry and Society unite,

assurance grows that Unity, Peace, and Friendship are achievable.

Wherever one heart meets another heart on a different continent,

Love and Understanding of cultures grows.

We, the PENTASI B Poets, Artists, friends and supporters unite our hearts

because we believe in Unity, Peace and Friendship for all nations of our Planet.

Today we witness this reality.

We PENTASIANS are very lucky because the world leading Poet, Dr. Penpen Bugtong Takipsilim is the “inspirational father “ of PENTASI B World Friendship Poetry.

We are here
