FUTURE IN THE MAKING
Vacation time is always play time,
To play games of no reason or rhyme,
In the sparsely available outdoors,
Perhaps of free air the only source.
A game of hide and seek was on,
With no hiding places, it seemed a con…
For the boys, some play was necessary,
As this game needed no extra accessory.
“Wait for me, wait! Stop, stop!
Let’s play robbers and the cop”,
A new boy joined in with a hop,
“You be thieves and I’ll be the cop!”
The kid’s mom watching the game,
Felt her son was destined for fame,
As she saw in him leadership traits,
Who looked to win with mere baits.
Another kid watching the game,
Seemingly quite meek and tame,
Expressed a wish to join the play,
And asked his mother if he may…
“To stop a game in between,
Is not only rude but mean.
Hide and Seek or Cop and Thief,
Are games with the same brief.”
“Even to join in games and fun,
You must always await your turn.
Wait till they complete this round,
Then you join them on the ground.”
Two boys, same game, different choices,
Advised by their moms in different voices.
Is this an indicator of where they’re headed,
With such advice in their psyche embedded??
When greed becomes need,
one’s ego only does it feed!!!
When we allow our greed to lead,
Into our system it grows like a weed,
Sowing of further greed many a seed
No warning signals does it ever heed.
Greed invariably gives in to more greed,
More and more greed is all can it breed.
I, me, myself become the creed
With our being of all soul freed.
When greed guides our thought, word and deed,
To all and every form of temptation do we cede.
Let’s never to the commands of greed accede;
Let restraint and contentment defeat our greed.
