Poem by Jagdish Prakash

Poem by Jagdish Prakash

Someone came to speak,
A celebrity, big name
One whose pictures we saw
On magazine covers
His erudition was superb
Unfolding the mysteries of life,
Laying bare its rainbow spectacle
He spoke of Sartre, Malraux, Camus
Of Dali and Chagall, Shankaracharya and Buddha
Left us spell bound
Made us ponder on many wonders
Of life, it’s complexities
His esteem high in my thoughts
Felt like emulating him
I mimicked him before the mirror
I was really caught in the web of mystery
When one late evening I saw on TV
That he was charged of sexual assault.
Suddenly I realised
That rainbow of life
Is composed of many shades of grey !
