DEAR JADE 2 / Poem by Membis Okorie Chukwukamma

Poem by Membis Okorie Chukwukamma

Oh! my Dear Jade, what were we
When we were not what we were
And what is the color of our heart
Now we are not what we dreamt?

These questions hang on my head
They swing and swing and swing
Like the vibrant confusion we made
For rain cold clouds failed to bring

You’re like the whispers of romance
Yet full of jealousy and annoyance
You are more like blissful memories
Yet, you are not in bygone stories

The shadows of the night has come
And you are still my most friendly star
The twilight plight is not swiftly gone
Yet from me, you are still not too far

An ex that is gently becoming a next
Or a Tilapia that escaped my net
About to be caught again by a poem
And place on a future realistic album

Jade, this is what yesterday brought
When I found myself behind the dream
Jade, this is what yesterday brought
Yet again, they are not as they seem

I travelled through my poems you live
And I still find it hard to fully believe
How my words for you set a new fire
I am falling in love with my silly desire
